Fly Into Jackson Hole, Ski Free the Day You Land

Arrival day just got useful. Visit Jackson Hole says travelers who fly into Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) this winter can get a free lift ticket on the day they land at three local resorts.

Here's the deal:

• Snow King Mountain: full-day ticket, Dec 4 through closing day, no blackout dates. It's close to town, and weekday night skiing runs until 6:30 p.m.
• Jackson Hole Mountain Resort: half-day ticket, Nov 27 through closing. Blackouts: Dec 19–Jan 2, Jan 15–18 and Feb 13–20. One ticket per boarding pass, and none on days the resort sells out.
• Grand Targhee Resort: half-day ticket, Nov 20 through Apr 18. Blackouts: Dec 24–Jan 3 and Feb 12–15.

To redeem, bring a boarding pass or flight confirmation showing your name, arrival date and arrival into JAC, plus a matching photo ID, to the ticket window. Kids need their own boarding pass and a parent's pass and ID. It only works on the day you land, so a late arrival from a weather delay doesn't roll over to the next morning. Driving in doesn't qualify.

Our take: this is the best kind of ski deal, because it costs nothing to use. Book a morning flight, carry on your boots, and take the free day.
