Snow Report Oct 25: Who's Open and Who's Next

The 2026-27 ski season has started. Who's open, which resorts have confirmed opening dates, and who's projected next, by region.

Ski season is officially (barely) underway. Ski Ward, a small Massachusetts hill, spun the first lift-served turns of 2026-27 on Saturday, Oct 24. In Colorado, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin are making snow and say they'll open "as soon as possible," but neither had announced a date as of Oct 23. Keystone sold lift tickets for Oct 24, and both are projected to open around Oct 30–31.

Snowmaking is underway across the map: Keystone fired up its guns Oct 14, and Killington started Oct 17 with 165 guns, two weeks earlier than last year. Mid-October storms hit Snowbird (10 inches) and Big Sky (6 inches).

How to read this: "Confirmed" means the resort or its owner announced the date. "Projected" comes from OnTheSnow and is not official. All dates can change with weather.
