Jet Skiing With Kids

Last Updated: September 2026

Kids ride as passengers more often than as drivers. Driver minimums are higher. Jacket fit and that shop’s passenger age are the constraint — not a national kid-jet-ski law.

What Age Can Kids Ride?

Passenger minimums are often lower than driver minimums — school-age is common on a two-seater if the jacket fits. Toddlers are often a no. That shop’s number wins.

Can Kids Drive?

Usually not until the posted driver age, often mid-teens or 16–18, plus whatever license that state wants. A kid who is legal to ride on the back is not automatically legal to hold the throttle.

What Age Is Too Young?

Whatever that shop posted. Birthday plus jacket plus passenger-vs-driver line.

FAQ

**Can my teen drive?** Only at that state’s age and that shop’s rule.
