Adventure Mountain Resort in Barnardsville, about 20 minutes north of Asheville, runs guided off-road tours in Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo vehicles across 220 acres of rugged mountain terrain. Each tour starts with a hands-on training session, then the guide leads the group over rock and log obstacles, steep climbs, creek crossings and ridgeline trails, climbing more than 1,400 feet. Drivers must be 21 or older with a valid U.S. driver's license, riders must be 8 or older, and guests who would rather not drive can ride with a guide. Tours run rain or shine.
