Zip lines across the Smokies

Zip lines here are spread over three towns and the hills between them. Some sit right on the Gatlinburg Parkway. Others are up winding roads in Sevierville or Wears Valley, with longer lines strung between ridges. Every park sets its own age, weight and weather rules, so the right course for your group often comes down to the youngest rider and the forecast. • Sevierville: Wahoo Ziplines, Legacy Mountain Ziplines, Jayell Ranch, Adventure Park at Five Oaks and Foxfire Adventure Park.
• Wears Valley Road: Wears Valley Ziplines, which uses a Sevierville address.

Do zip lines run in the rain?

Often, yes, but each park sets its own rule:

• Wahoo Ziplines operates "rain, snow, or shine" and won't cancel for cold or mildly rainy weather. It may pause a tour for up to an hour, and management can cancel for unsafe weather.
• Legacy Mountain Ziplines zips in rain and cold but not in high winds or lightning. If weather cancels a tour, it gives a rain check rather than a refund.
• WildSide's MegaZip operates rain or shine, and pauses or reschedules for thunderstorms or high winds.
• Anakeesta may suspend tours for high winds or storms.
• Ober Gatlinburg's Cloud Catcher is subject to closure for weather or maintenance.

Minimum ages, park by park

Jayell Ranch takes riders from 2. Adventure Park at Five Oaks and Legacy Mountain Ziplines start at 4. CLIMB Works Smoky Mountains, Wahoo Ziplines and Wears Valley Ziplines start at 5, and ages 5 to 7 at Wears Valley ride tandem with a guide. Anakeesta starts at 7 and WildSide at 10.
