Can Anyone Go Ziplining?
Last Updated: September 2026
Most canopy tours are built for first-timers. You do not need a sport background. You do need that operator’s age, height, and weight lines. Those are equipment limits, not attitude.
Quick Facts
- Experience: none
- Age: commonly 7–10+ on full tours; kids’ courses exist
- Weight: both a minimum and a maximum — often roughly 50–70 lb up to 250–280 lb
- Fear of heights: say it at the brief
- Fitness: stairs, ladders, a short walk between lines
Do I Need to Be Fit?
You need to climb a platform and lift your legs if they ask. A marathon is not required. If knees or shoulders already limit stairs, read that page.
What If I Have Bad Knees?
Tours use stairs, towers, and sometimes ladders between lines. The cable is the easy part. If stairs are the problem, ask that operator how many flights the course has before you pay. A short park zip is different from a mountainside canopy.
Am I Too Old?
Usually no posted maximum. The weight and mobility lines still apply.
FAQ
**Can overweight people zip?** If they fit the published max and the harness. The number on their site is the rule.
**What if I’m afraid of heights?** Tell the guide. The first line is often the training zip.
